Course
E14 – STRUCTURAL ANALYTICAL MODEL
Lesson 01 - Working with the Structural Analytical Model In this lesson you will learn about Integrated Design and we will introduce the general Workflow that we will cover in this course. Lesson 02 - QC & QA of the Structural Analytical Model In this lesson you will learn how to check the SAM, create issues in case of inconsistencies, and correct them manually or using rules. Lesson 03 - Export and Import Workflow (Interoperability) In this lesson you will learn how to collaborate with consultants using open formats and how to manage changes.

About this course
The course "E14 – Structural Analytical Model" shows the integrated workflow between the architect modelling in Archicad and the engineer calculating in a structural analysis tool. Starting from a sample architectural model, students will learn how to check the quality of the physical model, generate the structural analytical model, verify and correct it, export it in SAF format, and compare the model returned by the engineer to accept or reject their suggestions.
Course details
This course is aimed at architects, engineers and BIM modellers who work with Archicad and need to exchange the structural model with calculation consultants using open formats. The following is covered, in this order: checking the quality of the physical model and correcting its errors; applying the structural engineering profile and automatically generating the analytical model; checking the analytical model, creating issues and making manual corrections with supports and connections; generation rules; translators and export in SAF or IFC; and model comparison to manage and accept the engineer's suggestions as issues. The exercises are carried out with Archicad 25 and the structural engineering profile 25 on a pavilion model. The course explains that the SAF file returned by the engineer is generated in an analysis program such as SCIA, the operation of which is not part of this training.
Learning goals
- Check the quality of the physical model in Archicad and assess the errors detected.
- Apply the structural engineering profile and automatically generate the structural analytical model.
- Check the quality of the structural analytical model and record inconsistencies as issues.
- Manually correct the analytical model using supports and connections.
- Distinguish between the SAF and IFC Structural Analysis View formats and configure the SAF translators.
- Export the structural analytical model from the Publisher or using Guardar como.
- Compare the current model with the SAF file returned by the engineer.
- Manage and accept the engineer's suggestions using the Organizador and the Administrador de incidencias.
