In the last decade (2010 to 2020), many professionals discussed and argued about OPEN BIM and its primary file format, IFC. The arguments were not always in favour of OPEN BIM workflows, as there are many fans of “only” native file formats, the ones who tend to think one software environment is the best forever solution for all AEC industry (until it fails them!). But there are other significant numbers of professionals (include us) who believe in data interoperability, options and possibilities. Such belief is not only for the sake of open data exchange, but it also based on professional ethics such as data ownership, data access and data transparency. Features of OPEN BIM workflows – data interoperability, options and possibilities – ensures:
- Any digital transformation is taking full advantage of interoperability options (Accessibility)
- The standards (regional, national, industry, etc.) are open and natural (Universal protocols)
- Collaboration is not limited (Democracy)
- Our built asset data is not dependent on a vendor (Green data)
So, if you are an architect and need to work with other professionals (structural or mechanical engineer), we would like to demonstrate OPEN BIM works! Now, with the help and support of CYPE Ingenieros, we added three new titles to the Virtual Room by presenting engineering and estimation workflows through IFC using CYPE solutions and GRAPHISOFT ARCHICAD.
Upcoming webinar 1: Thursday 21 May 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET
+ Structural analysis trough ARCHICAD – CYPECAD
Upcoming webinar 2: Thursday 28 May 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET
+ MEP design trough ARCHICAD - CYPECAD MEP + Energy evaluation
Upcoming webinar 3: Thursday 4 June 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET
+ QTO from ARCHICAD model with CYPE Solutions
During these webinars, you will also learn about a new online platform (BIMserver.center) that enables you to manage, share and update your architecture, engineering and construction projects in the cloud. This platform developed by CYPE Ingenieros and it is intended to ease OPEN BIM workflows for a collaborative, open and coordinated workflow between you and your colleagues and collaborators.
What is CYPE?
CYPE Ingenieros is a Spanish software developer with a focus on Architecture, Engineering and Construction solutions. CYPE software programs mainly focus on engineering analysis, energy evaluations, and cost estimations solutions. CYPECAD, as their leading engineering solutions, design and check reinforced concrete, rolled steel, welded steel, cold-formed steel, composite, aluminium and timber structures for gravitational, wind, seismic and snow loads. Read more about CYPE programs here.
What is ARCHICAD?
ARCHICAD is a tool for architects working in the architecture-engineering-construction (AEC) industry for designing buildings from the conceptual phase all through to construction phase. It is a BIM software developed by GRAPHISOFT enabling architects to work in a BIM (Building Information Modeling/Management) environment. ARCHICAD works on two platforms: macOS and Windows - with no significant differences between them.
So, are you interested to learn more about how designers can leverage these functions to their advantage? If yes, then join our upcoming webinar on Thursday 21 May 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET
