In our previous blog post, we talked about OPEN BIM as a working method that empowers us to have better data interoperability, options and possibilities to be able to deal with both design and built asset in a democratic way. That means OPEN BIM brings greater accessibility to data as well as encouraging a universal protocol. This capability can also help us to archive design and built asset information without an expiration date. So, to bring evidence to this claim on the benefits of OPEN BIM, we added the series of OPEN BIM in Action blog post and webinars in our virtual room. This week we would like to invite you to learn more about estimation and quantity take-offs through OPEN BIM.
One of the important use cases of the IFC, which is the primary file format of OPEN BIM workflows, is about its capacity to store the building elements in a quantifiable way. Correct listing and quantifying capabilities enable us to have better parametric data for cost estimation, planning, and cost control. The good news is that ARCHICAD shines in exporting high-quality IFC file with accurate data and measurement in just a few click. So, if you are an architect and need to prepare an accurate quantity take-offs or if you are estimator and you need to have reliable listings, then join our upcoming webinar on Tuesday 26 May 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET.
Upcoming webinar: Tuesday 26 May 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET
+ IFC based cost estimation through ARCHICAD and TCQ (VR6-01)
In this webinar, with the help and support of ITEC, we added a new title to the Virtual Room. This new title is about quantity take-offs and estimation workflows through IFC using TCQ and GRAPHISOFT ARCHICAD. In the upcoming webinar, you will see:
- Export process of an IFC file from ARCHICAD
- Import process of an IFC file to TCQ
- Functionalities of IFC viewer in TCQ where you can assign each building elements to the items of the price list and decisions about measurement parameters.
In the following short video, you can learn about what TCQ is in general:
What is TCQ (Estimation)?
TCQ is a modular software for virtual construction, which includes 12 modules for the collaborative and integrated management of projects during the building life cycle. TCQ Estimates and technical specifications is one of the modules of TCQ that creates and maintains budgets in a hierarchical structure in up to 9 levels breakdown in work chapters. This module is IFC compatible and supports OPEN BIM working method to receive building data from different BIM authoring software.
What is ARCHICAD?
ARCHICAD is a tool for architects working in the architecture-engineering-construction (AEC) industry for designing buildings from the conceptual phase all through to construction phase. It is a BIM software developed by GRAPHISOFT enabling architects to work in a BIM (Building Information Modeling/Management) environment. ARCHICAD works on two platforms: macOS and Windows - with no significant differences between them.
So, are you interested to learn more about how designers can leverage these functions to their advantage? If yes, then join our upcoming webinar on Tuesday 26 May 2020, from 13:30 to 14:15 CET.
