How to Remove an Archicad Educational Licence from a Computer?

If Archicad keeps detecting an educational (EDU) licence on the computer and you want to remove it without reinstalling the program, you can fix this by manually deleting the licence file stored in Archicad's shared folder.

Step 1 - Close Archicad

Before making the change, save your project if you are working on one, then close Archicad completely.

This prevents losing changes and also prevents the program from keeping the licence file locked while you make the change.

Step 2 - Go to the licence folder

The path varies depending on the operating system:

  • On macOS: /Users/Shared/Archicad/AC_xx_xxx/
  • On Windows: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\GRAPHISOFT\ or C:\Users\[Your_Username]\GRAPHISOFT\

Inside that folder you will find the files associated with the Archicad installation or licence.

Step 3 - Remove the EDU licence

Locate the folder related to the EDU licence and delete it.

Important: Make sure you only delete the file or content related to the educational licence within the folder for that version or location.

Step 4 - Reopen Archicad

Open Archicad again and check that the program works normally.

In this case, removing the EDU licence from that folder should leave the environment clean without needing to reinstall Archicad or keep several versions on the same computer.

What you should keep in mind

  • replace AC_xx_xxx with the folder corresponding to your Archicad version;
  • on Windows, the location may vary between the public folder and the user folder;
  • this procedure removes the local reference to the educational licence.
