How to Migrate Your BIMcloud SaaS to a New Cloud Licence Subscription?
If your current BIMcloud SaaS subscription is about to expire, it is important to carry out a smooth transition to the new cloud licence subscription. This guide explains the migration process, the estimated downtime and the preparatory steps needed to avoid interruptions to your work.
What does BIMcloud migration involve?
Migration involves re-linking your existing BIMcloud SaaS with the new cloud licence subscription. This process:
- Keeps all data and configurations intact
- Keeps the same domain name
- Lets users access BIMcloud using the new cloud licences
Important: Do not create a new BIMcloud in Falcon Store. The process will be carried out on the existing BIMcloud.
How long does the migration take, and can it be scheduled?
- The linking process takes approximately one hour
- During that time, BIMcloud will not be available
- You can schedule the migration for a specific date and time that minimises the impact on your activity
- Once the preparations have been completed (see list below), you can propose the time that best suits your team
- It is recommended to avoid scheduling it close to delivery deadlines, especially if using Archicad versions between 22 and 26
Pre-migration checklist
Before scheduling the migration, make sure you have completed the following steps:
- All Teamwork projects must be on Archicad 22 or later
- All BIMcloud users must be connected with a Graphisoft ID (GSID)
- Inactive users must be removed
- Connected GSID accounts must belong to the corresponding GSID company
- All users must exit Teamwork projects and close Archicad
- This can be done 30 minutes before the scheduled time
- You can authorise the administrator to force out users who have not signed out in time
- Warning: unsent changes will be lost
Summary
| Step | Action |
| Prepare | Make sure all users are on GSID and projects are on Archicad 22 or later |
| Schedule | Choose a low-impact time slot for the downtime |
| Access | Verify that all users have exited the projects and closed Archicad |
| Migrate | Graphisoft will carry out the linking with the new cloud licence |
