Why Can't I Apply Roof Tiles with Goodies? Causes and Solutions
Target audience
Technical users, BIM managers and support staff who use Archicad in professional environments.
Prerequisites
- Archicad 28 (or a compatible version) correctly installed
- The Goodies package matching Archicad's localisation version already installed
- Access to the Library Manager
- Access to the Add-On Manager
- Knowledge of the Work Environment menu
Problem description
The tool or feature for applying roof tiles is not available after loading the Goodies folder into the project. The system does not correctly recognise the library objects required for this operation.
Possible causes and solutions
-
Incorrect library loading
Cause: A folder containing .libpak files has been loaded instead of loading those files directly.
Solution:- Go to File → Libraries and Objects → Library Manager
- Remove the loaded folder
- Click Add… and select the relevant .libpak files directly
- Confirm that the .libpak files appear as loaded libraries
- Click OK
-
Goodies add-on not installed or not enabled
Cause: The roof tiles add-on is not installed or has not been enabled in Archicad.
Solution:- Verify the installation using the official Goodies installer
- Go to Options → Add-On Manager
- Confirm that the add-on is enabled and free of errors
- Restart Archicad if necessary
-
Incompatibility between the library and the project template
Cause: The project template is older than, or not compatible with, Archicad 28's global library system.
Solution:- Check the template's compatibility
- Use updated templates designed to work with .libpak files
- Check in the Library Manager that there are no conflicts or duplicate libraries
-
Damaged or incomplete library files
Cause: .libpak files that were partially downloaded, modified or placed incorrectly.
Solution:- Download the Goodies again from the official Graphisoft portal
- Confirm that the files are not corrupted
- Load them again following the procedure described in point 1
-
Dependent resources not loaded
Cause: Additional .libpak files that provide resources linked to the roof tiles (textures, materials, surfaces, etc.) are missing.
Solution:- Check and load all related .libpak files
- Make sure no auxiliary files required by the roof tile objects are omitted
-
Work environment configuration
Cause: The Goodies add-on's tools are not visible due to a customised menu configuration.
Solution:- Go to Options → Work Environment → Menus
- Check that the Add-On's anchor point is added to a visible menu
- Save and apply the changes
- Restart Archicad for the changes to take effect
Validation
- Confirm that the roof tile objects are available in the roof tools
- Verify that the options appear in the relevant menus
- Check that there are no error messages in the Add-On Manager or warnings in the Library Manager
Additional recommendations
- Always use official Graphisoft .libpak files
- Avoid loading folders; always load the packages directly
- Standardise the work environment across all users to prevent inconsistencies
